For Grammy-nominated artist Regina Carter, the violin isn’t simply an improvisational vehicle; it’s a passport to unexpected realms. Her projects reflect her singular quest for beauty along with the connection to family, history and tradition. Her duo with pianist Xavier Davis is a simpatico merging of two musical minds. A prize-winning classical pianist before jazz intervened “in the form of a Tommy Flanagan solo,” pianist/composer Helen Sung captivates listeners with an imaginative, modern artistry that seamlessly integrates the jazz and classical worlds. She’ll be joined by tap dancer Michela Marino Lerman, the only woman of her generation inducted as an honorary member of the Copasetics — an organization comprised of mostly male black tap dancers founded in 1949. She strives to make her feet “sing.”
