Each spring, Ingenuity Cleveland unites and showcases the region’s artists, makers, and creatives with its fundraiser Bals... Join us to support our dreams and those of the entire Cleveland creative community, and awaken the dreamer in YOU!
The 2019 fundraiser is the Dreamer’s Bal -- a surreal creation of a living daydream -- which will take place on Saturday, May 4 from 8:00pm until 1:00am at IngenuityLabs, Ingenuity’s headquarters in the Hamilton Collaborative at 5401 Hamilton Avenue, Cleveland.
Attendees will step into an ethereal landscape built from subconscious hopes and aspirations once latent or ignored, brought to fruition by musicians on two stages, roaming costumed performers, aerialists, and immersive larger-than-life art installations. Local artisan vendors, restaurants and craft breweries showcase their wares alongside the creations of our year-round community of artisans and entrepreneurs, whose contributed works are produced through our Ingeneers, IngenuityLabs Incubator, and Ignite! programs.
Like our previous Bals Ingenieux, Bal Aquatique, and the Time Traveler’s Bal, the Dreamer’s Bal makes reference to the historic masked bals of the Kokoon Club, who described their events as follows: "As the lowly cocoon was the forerunner of the beautiful butterfly, so might they hope that from this small beginning something of beauty should develop and emerge.”
The arts have a rich history in Cleveland, with the Kokoon Club being the counter-elitist and avant-garde movement dominating the area from 1911-1946. It is with these same goals that Ingenuity Cleveland works today, igniting the spark of creativity among artists, entrepreneurs and innovators of all types, through joy and collaboration, in service to civic progress.
The Dreamer’s Bal supports
IngenuityFest 2019: Dreamscapes, celebrating its 15th anniversary as a staple Cleveland event and its fourth at the Hamilton Collaborative, taking place from September 27-29. Proceeds also support Ingenuity’s year-round programming including the IngenuityLabs small creative business incubator, the volunteer-driven arts group The Ingeneers, and the newly-launched Ignite! entrepreneurship education series.
