With the opening fall semester of MVN(C)U in 1968, the university’s presentation of Handel’s Messiah began. As a celebrated event in Knox County and the surrounding region, it has been a privilege for the Department of Music to continue the tradition with this 52nd annual performance. This year’s presentation will be performed by the MVNU Choral Union, faculty and guest soloists and chamber orchestra. The featured soloists are Elizabeth Barrett, Soprano; Carolyn Redman, Contralto; Tyler Skidmore, Tenor; and David Templeton, Bass. The 160-voice Choral Union includes the combined choirs of MVNU as well as faculty, staff, alumni and community singers. Conducting the performance will be Dr. Robert Tocheff, Professor of Music in the MVNU Music Department.
