Under the direction of Director Scott MacPherson, Cleveland Chamber Choir is committed to giving voice to living composers. Since its debut in 2015, the Choir has commissioned and/or given premieres of ten works during its first four seasons. The Cleveland Chamber Choir organization is a family of performing artists, administrators, and audience members brought together in the philosophy that choral music is a vehicle for good in the world. Celebrating their fifth season, CCC presents Lux Caelestis: A Prism of Sacred Music. Central to the concert is Timothy Kramer’s Lux Caelestis, a song cycle of texts about light from five separate religious traditions: Judaism, Zoroastrianism, Hinduism, Buddhism, and Roman Catholicism. Each piece illuminates different aspects of light, the eternal, God, and fire throughout: divine, powerful, creative, sacred, luminous, guiding, and loving. Additional works by Allegri, Hildegard von Bingen, McDowall, & Kachelmeier.
