5 Things to Do During Ice Fest
by Daniela Cacho
Winter schminter … right?! Here in Cleveland, when the chilly breezes start to blow off Lake Erie it can only mean one thing: time to get out … and stay out!
Meet between the Great Lakes Science Center and the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame for the totally FREE North Coast Harbor Ice Fest on Martin Luther King, Jr. Day. It’s here where you can check out some of winter’s most fun family-friendly activities.
Bring your game face, because Ice Fest has got the stuff for you to feel like a real Cleveland Monsters hockey player.
Come meet everyone’s favorite “snow sisters” (12-1 p.m.) and a gang of superheroes (1-2 p.m.) for plenty of photo opps, hugs and high fives.
It wouldn’t be a proper ice-themed festival without … ahem … ice. So, watch the pros carve intricate pieces of incredible art using big machinery and thick pieces of ice. From Cleveland sports team logos to adorable penguins, these ice sculptures come alive right before your eyes at at the top of every hour from 11 a.m.-4 p.m.
Playgrounds might not be the preferred playtime spot during the wintertime, but things get a little more promising during Ice Fest with the North Coast Harbor Ice Slide. Perfect for the littles, you can take a smooth ride down this cool ice-covered slide.
Take the perfect winter photo in front the famous #ThisIsCLE letters or one of the many ice sculptures. And, while you’re there, make sure to also use the hashtags #IceFestCLE and #CityMeetsTheLake for chances to swag all day.
