It's time to show off what all those long runs and speed workouts did for you during the months of grueling winter and spring training. The 2020 Rite Aid Cleveland Marathon is the perfect kickoff for the 2020 racing season. It's your opportunity to put it all on the line and conquer 26.2 miles of beautiful Cleveland scenery with thousands of your closest friends in the running community.
The marathon passes notable and historical landmarks such as: the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, FirstEnergy Stadium, RocketMortgage FieldHouse, Progressive Field, West Side Market, Tremont, Playhouse Square, University Circle, Rockefeller Park, Great Lakes Science Center and, of course, Lake Erie.
One of the 50 oldest marathons in the country, the Cleveland Marathon began in 1978. This flat, fast course is USATF certified and serves as a Boston Marathon qualifier. In its 42-year history, the Cleveland Marathon has seen over 350,000 particpants and generates more than $15 million annually to help benefit the Cleveland community.
26.2 miles not quite your cup of tea? Well, there's the half marathon, 10K, 8K, 5K and 1 mile races, as well. Check out all the race options and info about race weekend here. The Marathon, Half Marathon, and 10K take place on Sunday, May 17, while the 8K, 5K, 1-Mile and Kids Run take place on Saturday, May 16.
And, if running sounds like the last thing you wanna do, then come be a spectator and cheer on over 15,000 runners as they chase new PRs. Bands and cheer groups can be found camped out all along the course to provide encouragement to the race particpants as they're zooming through Cleveland.
