Last week was my first time ever at Mason's Creamery in Ohio City. It's actually really hard to put into words how I feel about their ice cream, because all of it was so unique and delicious. Being a food blogger means that I'm super passionate about the way my food looks, and Mason's Creamery understands - because all of their ice cream scoops are perfectly symmetrical and beautiful. That's love.
For starters, they offer classic, seasonal, and vegan treats. So many interesting options that it's a bit overwhelming at first, and I mean that in the best way possible. Some of their unique flavors include white chocolate, sweet potato pie, mint watermelon, vanilla with sweet sriracha sauce (?!), and even a Cleveland Whiskey flavor. Besides having an amazing ice cream selection, Mason's Creamery is bursting with good vibes. The shop is tiny, there are picnic tables outside with string lights, and a large vintage "Ohio City Ice Cream" sign that has obviously been around since 'NAM. I also noticed that while I was sampling flavors, there were a lot of people stopping by to get their fix, and every single person that walked through their door had a giant smile on their face. Smiling, happy Clevelanders and ice cream? Okay, okay.
Things I ate:
An egg waffle. I know, you're probably thinking - what the heck is that? It's basically an inverted waffle, that looks like bubble wrap minus the fact that bubble wrap is completely inedible. The waffle is made upon order, so its warm, and it curls perfectly into a ice cream hammock. Check the picture collage below, you'll see the egg waffle RIGHT AWAY. Once it's served you can rip off the bubbles and dip them into your ice cream. Genius.
Oatmeal pie ice cream. Jesse, one of the owners told me that he grew up loving Little Debbie's oatmeal pies - so this homemade ice cream is fashioned after his favorite childhood treat. There are perfectly sized chunks of the oatmeal pie cookie inside of such good ice cream. Amazing. That is what I ended up ordering for my waffle hammock.
A churro ice cream sandwich with french toast ice cream. It's to die for - you simply must try it. The churros, like the egg waffle, are made upon ordering, so the churros are warm and will melt your heart just as fast as they melt the ice cream that they're sandwiching.
Thai tea ice cream. I was just introduced to Thai tea and boba tea not too long ago, so I recognized the flavor when I saw the unique orange colored ice cream. To make matters better... the ice cream is topped with a little bit of sweetened condensed milk - you know, that syrupy, sweet vanilla tasting liquid?? Amazing.
