These festive and fabulous events are all taking place over the long holiday weekend, with several happening on the big day itself.
Cleveland Orchestra at Blossom – A Salute to America
Spend the evening at the summer home of our world-class orchestra as they honor America by performing patriotic Sousa marches, Broadway favorites, an Armed Forces Salute, and more – concluding with the "1812 Overture" and fireworks!
Great Lakes Science Center – Star Spangled Science
Bring your little ones down to investigate the science behind the sounds and sights of Fourth of July. They can experiment with the chemistry, physics and chromatography of fireworks. And, be sure to watch a watermelon explosion demonstration outside at North Coast Harbor before heading home.
Greater Cleveland Aquarium – Fun Before 4 on July 4th
Need something to do on the way to Uncle Sam's cookout? Head to the Aquarium between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. for fun and activities, including "star"fish crafts and a red, white and blue scavenger hunt.
Spend the day basking in the sun while checking out the Cleveland Metroparks' new beach house. Frolic in the waves of our great lake, treasure hunt for blue and green sea glass gems, grab a bite "to go" from the beach house restaurant and cool off with a scoop (or three) from Honey Hut Ice Cream. Finish the day snuggled up on the beach as you watch the fireworks reflect on Lake Erie.
Lock 3 Live Rib, White and Blue
Head south to Akron's rib festival where you can nosh on smokey bones made by 12 vendors from both Canada and, of course, the U.S. of A. Bands covering the likes of Queen, Bruce Springsteen, The Rolling Stones, and Journey will fill the air with your favorite all-American rock and roll songs until the Akron Symphony Orchestra takes the stage at 8 p.m. Fireworks will fill the night sky starting at 9:45 p.m.
Red, White and BBQ at Music Box Supper Club
Music lovers can choose between the Beatles and Motown to kick off your July 4th evening at Music Box Supper Club. Both shows will wrap in time for fireworks - providing you with a front row seat alongside the beautiful Cuyahoga River (which will NOT be part of the fiery display).
A BOOM WITH A VIEW
Cleveland’s fireworks are always held on July 4th and are shot off from the Flats where Lake Erie meets the Cuyahoga River. Check out these spots for some of the best views of the City of Cleveland's fireworks display:
