All cyclists - whether fresh outta training wheels or competitive speedsters - are invited to the nation's largest urban cycling fest right here in Cleveland. Pedal over to Edgewater Park for the 5th annual NEOCycle from Sept. 7-9. Here are the deets ...
NEOCycle starts with a bang on Friday night in Slavic Village. We're not kidding - it gets LOUD as racers thunder around the Olympic-style steel and wood track. Oh, and those steep embankments force riders to get practically horizontal around the turns. Arrive early for the intro "Track 101" class, before the main event caps off the evening.
Looking to unwind with a relaxing ride? Or maybe it's time to push your limits? Pick from three courses (10, 30 and 60 miles) that explore Cleveland's diverse neighborhoods and communities. Sure, that sounds like a lot of miles, but snacks and rest stops aplenty will keep your energy levels sky-high.
Ready to take it up a notch? Race up hills, power through sandy paths, hurdle logs and catch a little air in Cyclocross's obstacle-style course. But don't be intimidated - all skill levels are welcome. Even kids can get in on this action with the "Little Belgians" race.
Glow big or go home on this scenic twilight ride down Memorial Shoreway. Deck out your bike - and yourself - with neon lights and glows sticks before taking off on a seven-mile closed loop into Downtown Cleveland and then back again. You won't get views like these at spinning class.
End the weekend on a high note with an adrenaline-pumping ride through the Cleveland Metroparks. Strap on a helmet and chase the thrill of steep climbs and fast descents on the single track, park roads and all-purpose trails. If you really want to up the ante, why not go back for a second lap?

Warning: No cycling allowed on the FirstEnergy Stadium field. But, on Sunday afternoon, an NFL home opener between two bitter rivals is pretty much the next best thing. The new-look Browns host the Steelers in this AFC North grudge match with both sides hoping to get the season off to a winning start. Pencil it in after a weekend of pedal pushing.
Give your bike a rest and unwind with a pint from Platform Beer Co. at The Hub inside Edgewater Park on Friday and Saturday. This NEOCycle party is hopping with giant board games, mini golf, bike vendors, bike demos, live bands and, of course, some good suds. And, good news for you non-riders, no bike (or registration) is required to party.
