The North Coast has been a filming hotspot for some time now, with some pretty major movies having come through for Cleveland’s close-up. But when we’re not hosting film crews and superhero battles in our streets, you’ll find us in our local theaters with popcorn in hand. Cleveland boasts some amazing showcases for the best in independent cinema every year, here’s just a few.

Cleveland International Film Festival (April 7-20, 2021)

Going 45 years strong, this all-virtual installment CIFF continues to set the gold standard as a must-have ticket for film aficionados. (And stay tuned for its triumphant return to Playhouse Square in 2022!)

FunMill Films Festival (May 16, 2021, Lakeshore Cinema)

No Hollywood elitism here! Thanks to its inclusive selection process, the FunMill Films Festival guarantees that the work of Midwest filmmakers will make it onto the big screen for audiences to enjoy.

Greater Cleveland Urban Film Festival (September 2021)

One decade in, GCUFF is known for elevating the work of diverse filmmakers—along with empowering local teens to hone their own skills behind the lens.
