In Ohio, the great outdoors attracts adventurers who crave clean, nature-focused fun pulsating through their veins. What’s required? Friends, a blanket, bike, yoga mat, and maybe a beer. Grab said pack and let’s roll.
Chill out or rev up every Thursday from June 9 - Aug. 11 at Edgewater Park — the let’s-start-the-weekend-early destination of choice. Each week several thousand of Cleveland’s coolest enjoy the ultimate, urban Lake Erie park via local live bands, food trucks, and beach games like cornhole, volleyball, and yoga. The fun kicks off at 5:30 p.m. and wraps up at 8:30 p.m., usually back-dropped by a glorious, bro-hugging sunset over the lake.
Believe in CLE
Get your Om on outdoors with Cleveland’s group yoga movement. Look for Believe in CLE pop-up events dotting the city at various landmarks and venues, harnessing CLE’s collective spiritual energy. Initiated in 2013 at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum, the events draw thousands and combine music, education, food, and (yes) downward dogs and happy babies. What’s maybe the best part about these yoga parties? The events are always free to attend. Feel the love?
Urban athletes roll large in our fair city. Take NEOCycle as an example. It’s the nation’s first and only urban cycling festival, returning for its third edition (Sept. 9-11) to The Hub at Edgewater Park. It attracts some 25,000 cyclists throughout the weekend with rad races, rides, music, and beer. Strap on your light saber and ride through the Cleveland night with 4,000 on the Night Ride (the weekend’s highlight) or just sit on your cycle and watch all 25 bands on two stages at the free, two-day fest (note: there are fees that vary for races and ride entries). Come hungry, thirsty, and ready to roll.
Get up and running and sign up for a 5K this summer. Upcoming August races include the OutRun Ovarian Cancer on Aug. 6th at the Rock Hall, the Hofbräuhaus Cleveland 5k & 10k on Aug. 7th, and the Fox 8 Fox Trot on Aug. 28th. Whether you run, walk, or crawl to the finish line-- get out and do it! Grab a friend, get moving, and sign up.
