Designed by Daniel Burnham, the original
six-story building offered 800,000
square feet of space. The design is Neoclassical
with a terra-cotta exterior. This
was the first store to offer Clevelanders
air conditioning, a parking garage and a
place where mothers could leave their
children while they shopped. The building
has been retrofitted as apartments
with street-level dining and an extended-
stay hotel.
