The St. Matthew Passion by Richard Davy
Among the most dramatic musical works from the early Renaissance is the setting of the St. Matthew Passion by the English composer Richard Davy (1465–1507). Preserved incomplete, it has been reconstructed by Quire’s Artistic Director, Ross Duffin, with English text from the Tyndale Bible. This concert on Palm Sunday adds to the observance of Holy Week, preceding Easter. But whatever your beliefs, you will be moved by the expressiveness and beauty of this extraordinary work. Presented with support from the Ohio Arts Council and Cuyahoga Arts & Culture.
