It's June now, which means one very important thing: festival season. Cheers to the weekend!
Friday, June 8
The popular summertime event returns to the scenic Flats East Bank alongside the Cuyahoga River. Held on the second Friday of each month between the months of June and September, Flat Out Fridays features live music and local vendors from around Northeastern Ohio including Thirsty Dog Brewing Company, Alley Cat Oyster Bar, Coastal Taco, Bold, The Big Bang Piano Bar and others. This month's band is alternative rock group, Binge Red. All of the festivities begin at 7 p.m.
Every second Friday of the month, the Tremont neighborhood comes alive with dozens of art openings, music, boutique shopping and delicious food from the local restaurants. Feel free to move at your own pace as you dig through records and have a cup of coffee at Loop before satisfying your sweet tooth with ice cream from Tremont Scoops. This month's theme is "Walkabout on the Wild Side" and is set to feature music from Rhythm & ‘Roos as well as belly dancers from Tribe Ostara. The event goes from 5-10 p.m.
Saturday, June 9
June is a big month for the Cleveland Museum of Art. In addition to their yearly Solstice party -which goes down later this month - they also have their annual Parade the Circle celebration. The actual parade begins at noon and fills University Circle with display of bright costumes, giant puppets, stilt dancers, handmade masks and colorful floats. The theme for this year is "Cadenza: A Flourish of Individual Creativity." Admission is free and workshops are available in the Circle Village from 10 a.m.-4 p.m.
The two-day music festival, which takes place on the 140-acre Butler campus of Laurel School, features 30+ acts, including national luminaries Foster The People and Daya among many others. This HUGE music festival, which runs from 11:30 a.m.-11 p.m. each day, is a family-friendly event with bounce houses, face painting, bubble machines and more to add to the festive event.
Sunday, June 10
Head to the vibrant, urban neighborhood of Lakewood, just outside of downtown Cleveland or a day of dining. Madison Park becomes the daylong home of more than 25 local restaurants ranging from the swanking bites from up-and-comer Salt+ to vegan dishes from The Root Café. It's a great way to immerse yourself into this ecletci neighborhood that's brimming with youthful energy. Admission is free; just pay as you eat. It all happens from 1-7 p.m.
