New restaurant openings in Cleveland - March 2017


Hungry? Us too. And we love discovering new places to eat and drink. Here's a rundown of some of the 2017 restaurant openings in Downtown Cleveland.

Masthead Brewing Co.
This rustic brewery, taproom and kitchen is located in the two-story Bryant Building that once was home to an automotive dealership in 1921 and most recently home to the Cleveland Title Bureau. The building features 16-foot clearances, a selection of high-top tables and picnic tables that are fabricated out of hemlock from an old barn in southern Ohio and can accommodate up to 250 people in this 16,000 square-foot space. The winding 108-foot bar has 24 tap handles that pour Masthead brews as well as some guest beers. Traditional cocktails like an Old Fashioned and Old City Sodas will also be available.

El Puente Viejo Taco and Tequila Bar
Located in the ground floor of Creswell in Playhouse Square, this modern Mexican restaurant is a Mexican lover’s dream. It’s a taco and tequila bar equipped with a guacamole bar, hand-made tortillas and a refrigerated fresh toppings bar that allows diners to customize their dishes. The owner was born and raised in Central Mexico, giving the food an authentic Mexican flare.

Ruth's Chris Steakhouse
Famous for their 500-degree sizzling plates and incredible wine list, the steakhouse recently opened in the atrium of the Huntington Building. Slice into a filet or lobster tail while sipping on handcrafted cocktails for an upscale dinner, business meeting or happy hour.

Portion is a fast-paced, grab-and-go restaurant where guests can get a quick bite to eat before heading off to work, a sporting event or other activity near Downtown Cleveland. As a grub-hub spin-off of Wonder Bar, menu items will be a mix of hot and cold items and will come a la carte with a price tag under $10. The casual restaurant is located near Public Square in the historic 1850s-constructed Southworth building.

Collision Bend Brewing Co.
This brewery and brewpub will be located in the old Watermark restaurant in the East Bank of the Flats and will feature craft beer, including sours and growlers, made from local grains and malts. A small food menu will be available--and though it may be little, it's guaranteed to pack a flavorful punch.

Taco Bell Cantina
The Taco Bell Cantina will be Taco Bell on steroids, featuring alcohol “twisted” freezes, beer, sharable appetizers and elevated versions of Taco Bell classics. In addition, the atmosphere will have a more upscale feel with local artwork on the walls, community tables and free Wi-Fi. It will open up in the old May Company building near Public Square.

Noble Beast Brewing Company
The name of this brewery has a German and American background--Noble, as in Noble hops, are traditional German varieties including Hallertau, Saaz, Spalt and Tettnang and Beast, which come from breaking the traditional brewing rules and adding a uniqueness to the beer. The brewery’s beer will be made by decoction, a German brewing technique that controls temperature and will have a variety of styles including Kolsch, Altbier, India Pale Ale and Belgian Ale. In addition, the food menu will feature traditional pub fare and will be locally sourced.

Marble Room Steak and Raw Bar
This upscale restaurant is dressed head to toe in marble: solid marble staircases, chandeliers, rows of floor-to-ceiling pillars and a below-ground bank vault. The high-end restaurant will be located in the historic Garfield Building, which was once home to the National City Bank. The menu will feature well-balanced offerings of steak and seafood; however, lighter fare will be available for those looking for a quick cocktail and appetizer.

More celebrity stardom is coming to The Land with the opening of Wahlburgers, a fast-paced burger joint owned by actor Mark Wahlberg and his family. The 5,200-square-foot restaurant will be an open storefront attached to the JACK Cleveland Casino’s parking garage and will feature gourmet burgers, fries and tots on its menu.

Margaritaville in the Flats East Bank is bringing Jimmy Buffet to the CLE. This island-inspired restaurant will whisk guests away and teleport them to the Florida Keys. The restaurant will feature tons of palm trees, an attached Margaritaville store, a lake view rooftop “Landshark Bar,” an outdoor seating area and lower-level "5 O'clock Somewhere Bar" with flat-screen TVs. In addition, there will be an indoor stage available for live bands and other performances.

Rascal Flatts Restaurant
The city of Cleveland is opening the very first Rascal Flatts restaurant in the nation in the Flats East Bank. The design is an eclectic style with a mix of industrial and rustic themes. This 10,000-square-foot restaurant will occupy a space facing the river, and have a 3,200-square-foot outdoor patio and an indoor performance space.

Heck’s Café
Clevelanders will soon enjoy a Cleveland classic in the heart of Downtown. Heck’s Café is bringing their gourmet burgers to Downtown Cleveland on the ground floor of the 515 Euclid Ave. parking garage. This fast and casual spot is beloved for their lunch and dinner specials including lobster mac’n cheese, shrimp and grits, short ribs and more.
