Summer 2018: Art Wave
FRONT International: Cleveland Triennial for Contemporary Art Encompasses the City During the Summer 2018
A massive wave of art will engulf Cleveland during the summer of 2018 for FRONT International: Cleveland Triennial for Contemporary Art.
And, as a world-class center of arts and culture, Cleveland’s never been more ready.
This large-scale, three-month event is set to encompass the city in a variety of museum exhibitions, projects and public programming featuring the work of more than 60 local, national and international artists.
The contemporary artwork on display will run the gamut from paintings, photography and sculptures to videos, community projects and everything in between.
FRONT will be a one-of-a-kind opportunity, as the art featured will be centrally focused on Cleveland. In fact, FRONT’s theme “An American City” actually encourages the participating artists to research, collaborate and engage with the region on a long-term basis.
So, you won’t find anything else like it in the country.
FRONT’s artists will use Northeast Ohio’s vast arts and cultural assets to showcase their work including the Cleveland Museum of Art, MOCA Cleveland, the Akron Art Museum, the Allen Memorial Art Museum at Oberlin College, Transformer Station, SPACES and the Cleveland Institute of Art.
Contained in this impressive group will be six international and six nationwide artists who are anticipated to participate in residencies and prepare for their part in the Triennial.
The out-of-town artists will live and work in the recently redeveloped Glenville Arts Campus, located on Cleveland’s near east side. In doing so, the artists will be immersed not only in a setting with their peers, but alongside the very community they are tasked with engaging.
FRONT happens July 14—Sept. 30, 2018. Make plans now to be fully engrossed in a summer of art at this uniquely Cleveland event. To learn more, visit http://frontart.org.
