Storm the Lake
There's nothing quite like watching a brilliant sunset over Lake Erie, and some of the best vantage points in the city are at the Metroparks Lakefront Reservation - which encompasses Wendy Park at Whiskey Island, Edgewater Park, East 55th Street Marina, and Gordon Park - and the 88-acre Cleveland Lakefront Nature Preserve peninsula. Just as dazzling are the sights from the new Rock and Dock Marina behind the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum, which boasts 53 transient slips for daytrippers and day-dockers alike.
Thrill-seekers can catch some rays while learning about stand-up paddleboarding via Aloha SUP and 41° North Kayak Adventures; the latter also offers sea kayaking lessons. Meanwhile, Great Lakes Watersports rents jet skis, boats, and kayaks to the adventurous, and River Cruiser Kayaking offers tours of area waterways. But if letting someone else navigate our fair waters is more your style, both the majestic Goodtime III and Nautica Queen boats offer a variety of waterfront cruises.
Quick Question: Are you looking for a hint of the tropics close to home? Slip away to Lake Erie's islands, just west of Cleveland, and visit music- and bar-friendly Put-in-Bay or outdoors haven Kelley's Island. Your tan alone will be worth it.
