Oktoberfest Time in CLE

Hops Till You Drops Sept. 16-18

Well, it's Oktoberfest time in Cleveland, people, which means fall is a-comin' and beer is a-brewin'. With fall weather comes our love for sweaters, boots, beanies, and better yet, a cold, crisp brewski to keep our bellies happy and our bodies warm. And of course, baseball playoff pushes and the start of football season.

What better way to kick off a September weekend than by drinking beer? So strap up your lederhosen and get ready for some serious fun.

Two Stages. Three Days. Multiple Performers. And Cleveland sports.

Get ready for the first ever Downtown Oktoberfest, which promises to be THE place to be to drink all your favorite CLE brews and celebrate the coming of fall in the beautifully renovated Public Square.

Friday, Sept. 16, noon - 11 p.m.
Saturday, Sept. 17, noon - 11 p.m.
Sunday, Sept. 18, 9 a.m. - 4 p.m.

And if you're looking for the perfect Browns Home Opener pre-game party, search no more. Rise and shine early because the fest starts at 9 a.m. on Sunday, just in time to start tailgating. There will even be screens set up at Oktoberfest to watch the game. If you're lucky enough to have tickets, well then friend, put on your game face, grab your orange and brown, down some brews at Oktoberfest, then make your way over to the 1:00 game vs. the Ravens at First Energy Stadium.

Maybe you're more into baseball. No worries -- we've got you covered there, too. Just to add on to the intensity, the Indians are playing division rival Tigers this same weekend. Battling for first place, you know this is going to be an intense series.

SCENE Magazine is putting on Downtown Oktoberfest in partnership with Hofbrauhaus Cleveland, Great Lakes Brewing Company, and Thirsty Dog Brewing Company. Who's invited? E'rrbody.

"We're excited to have one of the first major events at the newly renovated Public Square," said Chris Keating, SCENE Publisher. "The transformation is incredible and to be able to host an event in this space is awesome."

Food & Drank
We're talking all your favorite German grub from local restaurants like Balaton Restaurant, Canal Tavern of Zoar, Der Braumeister, Hofbrauhaus and more. Pretzels and bratwurst galore... don't miss out.

Then of course, das bier. Brewskis from Thirsty Dog Brewing Company, (have you tried the Barktoberfest or the Whippet Wheat Heffe?), Great Lakes Brewing Company (featuring four brews, including Oktoberfest) and Hofbrauhaus, (three brews + Oktoberfest) will be there for your enjoyment. PROST!

Here's hoping you know how to Schuhplattler. Expect to jam to live polka tunes by Joey Tomsick & The Shotskis, Polka Revolution, Eric Noltkamper,
The Casuals and more.

Bring those hefty arm muscles for the stein hoisting contest, where competitors will lift a full one-liter glass stein with a straight arm, for as long as possible. If you sip, spill, or bend your arm, you're out!

And, every hour on the hour, watch a live performance from Das Glockenspiel, presented by STV Bavaria from Cleveland.

"This event is just one more piece as to how vibrant the City of Cleveland has become," Keating said.

Event Admission
All Access Wristbands are available for purchase for $5. Special ticket packages, which include meals, beer, and other items, are available. Drink tickets can be purchased at the event. All ticket options are now available at www.clevescenetickets.com.

Bier there or bier square. (See what we did there?)
