Lolly Gets Jolly
Take a holiday-themed tour of Cleveland on Lolly the Trolley
Cleveland may be a very walkable city, but when the temperature dips into freezing, there's a more comfortable way to take in the sights. Lolly the Trolley is a beloved transportation option that is perfect for seeing holiday lights and attractions around the city. This year, there are two Holiday Lights Rides available for you to choose from: A Christmas Story Tour and the Silver Bells Plus Tour.
A Christmas Story Tour
The classic 1983 movie featuring Ralphie Parker and his Red Ryder 200-shot Carbine Action Air Rifle comes to life in the city was the filming location for the holiday favorite. On this tour, Lolly the Trolley takes you to several locations featured in the movie, including the Higbee Building, Public Square (where the parade scene was filmed) and the Christmas Story House itself. The tour includes admission to the Christmas Story House and the separate museum and gift shop where you can see items from the movie on display, or even purchase your own movie-related memorabilia. Tours last between 1.5-2 hours.
Available dates: Fridays/Saturdays at 6:00 p.m. December 2-3; 9-10; 16-17; 23; and 30. Sundays at 4:00 p.m. December 4 and 18 only.
The Silver Bells CLE Tour
What's the holiday season without going light-gazing? Take in the history of Cleveland while enjoying holiday lighting displays around Playhouse Square and into Tremont. This year, the tour includes a drive by the Christmas Story House (there will not be a stop). Tours last about one hour.
Available dates: December 2-4; 9-11; 16-18; 21-23; 26-30 at 7:00 p.m.
Although you won't be on foot, dress warmly and feel free to bring a blanket to stay cozy. Trolleys do have heat and windows but may be chillier than your car. Find out more information here and make a reservation today by calling 216-771-4484. All tours depart from the Powerhouse Station at Nautica on the west bank of the Flats. Enter the Powerhouse through the green awning. Trolley Tours has a desk at the top of the stairs on the second level.
