Pack the Van for Family Adventure Day
By Jen Jones Donatelli
Looking for a place to take the kiddos for the day? Look no further. They are sure to be tired out after an exciting day at any of these Cleveland-area attractions. And you'll have just as much fun as they do!
THRILLS AND CHILLS
Every year, Cedar Point seems to have a new jaw-dropping scream machine, and 2016 is no exception. Have you heard about the new Valravn roller coaster? It's intense, with a four-second pause at the top of its 223 feet high dive, just so you know what you're getting yourself into. For milder (but still loads of fun) outdoor adventures, head to Olmsted Township's Swings-N-Things--home of all things amusing, from batting cages to bumper boats.
It's old-fashioned field trip time. Head to the Great Lakes Science Center for a dose of nerdy nostalgia with its Design Zone special exhibit, where you can discover how game developers, music producers, roller coaster designers create masterpieces. Go spend a day at the Cleveland Museum of Natural History or go where the wild things are at Perkins Wildlife Center. Or just head to space at a once-a-month tour of NASA's Glenn Research Center (held from April through October), where you can get an exclusive peek behind the cosmos curtain.
RELEASE THE BEASTS
Ready to find your wild side? The Cleveland Metroparks Zoo is a good start, offering an all-new "Tiger Tracks" overnight experience for families. You can also venture out to the Akron Zoo where older children (8 years+) can partake in unique experiences, including behind-the-scenes tours and the Trainer for a Day program. Next, wash up to the Greater Cleveland Aquarium and check out the new stingray pups.
