It's Hip to be Square
Your guide to Public Square events for the remainder of the year.

Though Cleveland’s redesigned central hub, Public Square, has only been open to the public since June 30, it already has played host to more than 100 events and activities.
And why not? The six-acre area in the center of Downtown boasts vast green space, a dedicated hill for music performances, a reflecting pool and splash pad, a full-service restaurant, and temporary art installations--plus plenty of leftover space to hold people during a popular event.
"It's become a gathering place, a neighborhood in and of itself," says Sanaa Julien, CEO and head of Public Square's programming and operations team. "People come down to find something that's been lacking for a long time--the center of the city and our front door, essentially."
While the heavy events season is winding down, there still are plenty of reasons to check out the city's newest gathering place. Here's a rundown of what's been planned thus far for the remainder of 2016. For details and the most up-to-date information, go to Public Square's event calendar.
Through the end of the month, the following activities will continue: yoga on Monday, Wednesday, Saturday and Sunday; lunchtime food trucks on Tuesday; and North Union Farmers' Market on Thursday.
Yoga will continue on Monday, Wednesday, Saturday and Sunday through Oct. 16; lunchtime food trucks on Tuesday will continue through the end of the month.
Plans are still being finalized for fall and Halloween celebrations, including the annual Big City Boo, which is a safe alternative to trick-or-treating for children 12 years of age or younger, with their parents. Two Pumpkin Painting events (Oct. 22 and 29) offer kids more free Halloween fun.
The ice rink opens on Nov. 18, and Winterfest will make its return to Public Square on Nov. 26. The latter is Cleveland's holiday season kick-off extravaganza and features free horse and carriage rides, a tree-lighting ceremony, a fireworks show and more.
Many events in December will tie in with holiday celebrations, including choir performances. We'll keep you updated on specifics as details become available.
