Where's the party at on Friday nights in Cleveland? Along the East Bank of the Flats, that's where. And it's all summer long until August 12, starting at 6 p.m., Flat Out Fridays is a free admission, brand new event presented by Downtown Cleveland Alliance and is the hottest new party in CLE. With the waterfront views, live music and outdoor patios, this is the ideal way to spend a Friday night in the city.
Heather Holmes, director of Marketing and Public Relations at Downtown Cleveland Alliance, says that the event is a great way to welcome new visitors and re-introduce the old to all of the energy surrounding Downtown Cleveland right now.
"Visitors and Clevelanders alike can gather for a late happy hour, enjoy live music, the beer garden, and all the new culinary options while surrounded by the most amazing views of the sunset on the river," Holmes says.
Come hungry for a variety of your favorite food trucks, or dine outside at Costal Tacos, Alley Cat Oyster Bar, Crop Sticks, or Crop Rocks. Don't leave your sweet tooth at home because you'll spot plenty of desserts and ice-cream there as well. Thirsty? Head over to the beer tents and grab a local brew.
Dance the night away to live music on these warm summer nights. Each week a new band performs outdoors, supporting local non-profits.
Whether you're looking to chillax in a lounge chair with a margarita in hand while overlooking the water, or just bop around in the Flats to experience the music and energy, Flat Out Fridays offers the best of both. Walk along the boardwalk to catch a panoramic view of the illuminated shoreway and city lights reflected off the river. (Blue bridge + waterfront = perfect photo op for date night.) Cozy up with your special someone and enjoy the outdoor fire pits at BeerHeads and Coastal Tacos. Or dance the night away with your friends to celebrate the start of a summer weekend in Cleveland. It's casual and elegant at the same time (flip flops are not only welcome, but encouraged).
"People of all ages and walks of life have come together to reconnect with one of our city’s greatest assets -- the waterfront," Holmes says.
And when the event stops at 10 p.m., take the water taxi for just $2 to hop over to the West Bank of the Flats. Or, stay and play some outdoor cornhole and life size Jenga with your pals.
