CLE Rocks NYE
Downtown Cleveland's Huge NYE Bash
When Alonzo Mitchell and the creative minds at Ohio Homecoming (the grassroots movement that retains, maintains and attracts talent to Ohio) got together, it became clear that Cleveland was missing a certain something: a signature event, specifically, a downtown New Year's Eve celebration.
So, what did this group of highly energetic Ohioans do? Welp, they called Drew Carey, a couple of nationally recognized born-and-bred Cleveland musicians and just about every passionate CLE backer to create CLE Rocks NYE.
In its 2013 inaugural year, this off-the-charts downtown New Year's Eve bash attracted more than 15,000 people to Cleveland to hear some of the best music in the country, party all night and enjoy a massive fireworks display at midnight.
"It was an amazing event that drew people of different ages and backgrounds," said Kayla Barnes, the CLE Rocks NYE Communications & Marketing Committee. "It was so cool that we could all kick off the New Year - together."
"The new location means a much larger indoor VIP area for those who are interested in that kind of experience," she said.
The theme is fittingly "For Cleveland, by Cleveland" and includes celebs who were born right here in CLE including headliner DJ E-V, opener Carlos Jones, Machine Gun Kelly and some celeb surprise appearances throughout the night.
"We're trying to stack the entertainment so that it appeals to a variety of ages and interests," she said.
The fun kicks off around 8pm, but will go until the stroke of midnight. That means those who are returning from the Cleveland Cavaliers basketball game that night will get to rally past the closing buzzer.
Tickets ($10 for regular admission) are on sale now at www.CLENYE.com. It's on that website where you'll also get information on partner hotels, incentives and information on VIP ticket experiences.
And, the good news is that with an on-site beer garden, the group is working diligently to ensure that you can leave the driving to the professionals.
"We're partnering with UBER, which will provide concierge stations at the event," said Barnes.
The group also is working with RTA on a partnership.
For those visitors not familiar with the uniqueness of wintertime in Cleveland, remember to dress warm to this outdoor event, because it snowed last year (Hi, this is Cleveland and New Year's Eve falls in December).
