Looking for a way to help out in the city you love? Here are some upcoming volunteer opportunities.

August Cruise Ship Welcome Parties

We will be welcoming the 300-passenger Victory Cruise Line vessels on the lake front, west of First Energy Stadium, at Dock 28. These welcome parties are usually only about an hour long, a ton of fun, and we have some great regulars that are sure to become your friends as well. The August events are on the early side, but it will be a great way to start your day! Help welcome these visitors to our city. Check out the CLE Ambassadors Facebook page for pictures. Come join the fun, and please let Eric (eembacher@destinationcle.org) know if you help on:

  • Sunday, August 13, 8 a.m., Dock 28
  • Thursday, August 31, 8 a.m., Dock 28
  • Friday, September 8, Noon, Flats West Bank
  • Thursday, September 14, 9 a.m., Dock 28

More details will be provided as the dates near. We’re looking to enhance the cruise ship welcome experience this summer with frequent appearances by local musicians to add some atmosphere to the festivities.

Cleveland Script Sign greeters/photographers needed

Thanks to everyone who has volunteered so far this summer! We could still use more help with picture-snapping and greeting guests, especially with a new sign having recently been installed on the east side at Euclid Beach Park. We’ve received some great feedback as well from volunteers:

“We really had fun. We must have taken hundreds of photos. During those three hours, I bet we had people for pictures and/or lined up waiting all the time except for, maybe, 10-15 minutes total! And the people were so nice. We were truly surprised how many international visitors we met (without even talking to everyone!) Visitors were from Poland, Russia, Puerto Rico, Thailand, Japan, France, Turkey. People came for engagement photos, Christmas card photos, family shots after the baseball game, and just for fun. Some were passing through, a few were 'back home' for a visit, and many were locals. [My friend] said that no doubt yesterday will rank as one of the highlights of her summer, and I am still basking in all the positiveness that I was surrounded by in those hours.”

Survey Intercepts

We will also be deploying volunteers to gather feedback from visitors in a quick, one-minute visitor experience survey. This will be a fun opportunity to engage with visitors and help us to create the strongest visitor destination possible for our future guests.

If you’d like to join the fun, email Eric at eembacher@destinationcle.org.
