Plus, indulge in Cleveland's vibrant art scene where you'll find more than 100 galleries, artist studios, retailers, street performances and more.
The New York Times claims that "Culture Blooms in Cleveland." Travel + Leisure named it one of the country's most cultured cities. USA Today even lauds our city's arts and cultural scene.
Those guys know what they're talking about. But come see for yourself what has them all excited about Cleveland.
While neighborhoods like University Circle often get most of the city's cred for it's unexpected throng of arts and cultural gems (and deservedly so), many aren't aware that Cleveland boasts quite an indie art scene chock full of artist-run galleries, retro crafting fairs, small boutiques, local artisans, artist lofts and even restaurants and hotels displaying entire art collections. These artsy localities are often the anchors to emerging neighborhoods and districts.
SPARX City Hop, the signature event of Downtown Cleveland Alliance, is a celebration of the cultural production taking place in Cleveland's most central and metropolitan neighborhoods. Drawing more than 20,000 visitors to the city, this one day event showcases Cleveland's creative and growing arts culture.
It's basically like a whole bunch of mini art walks connected by way of a free trolley system.
First stop for Hoppers: the Main Hub, located at Playhouse Square right under the GE Chandelier. Participants will get a free wristband, required to board the trolleys. Trolleys will then pick up participants for a tour around Downtown CLE.
This year’s SPARX has three trolley routes: The Green line featuring Downtown Cleveland and into Ohio City; the Blue Line including stops in the Superior Arts District, Campus District and Asian Town Center; and the Red Line taking city hoppers into Tremont.
Hop on the trolley to hear fun facts about each neighborhood’s architecture, culture, history, local artists as well as the all the latest happenings Downtown.
Get in the groove and bring your moves because I'm sure you'll want to dance to the live tunes.
